QUOTES

From Breadcrumbs

I believe it will take multiple generations for this kind of housing (senior living) to become commonplace and completely comprehended.

You’re not the child, friend, or partner anymore. You have now morphed into a new position that comes with immense responsibilities and requires time and emotional bandwidth. Most often, caregiving is not something people have planned on doing, however, most of us will find ourselves there at one time or another.

So what will you get from this book? On a practical level, it will provide you with a lot of information, address concerns you may have and offer some strategies and action plans. On an emotional level, my hope for this book is that it will help you to understand that you are not alone and that many, many people face similar situations.

Gone are the days when a stay-at-home adult was caring for children and elderly. With the current economy, most families require a dual-income household, which means caregiving hours are on top of, and most often mixed into the 40-hour weekly work schedule.

Many work environments offer Employee Assistance Programs, however not for caring for elderly family members. Our society has designed care relief around young children and with the immense amount of adult children needing to take time off, sick days, and extended absences from work to care for their loved ones, our society is in quite a pickle.
